Babies!!
Welcome to my page of litters, where you can see my current litters! Litters 'in the works' will also be listed here as available.
Currently listed below: The Londonderry Litter
Monty Python: Litter of the Holy Grail
I also have several wonderful local rescues!!
All of my breeding stock is selected for their health and personality as well as color/markings, so it's guaranteed that you'll love your Critter Cave baby!
I offer full informational support to all adopters (you can ask me all the questions you need to, at any time!) as well as re-homing if needed.
There is a link at the bottom of the page for past litters (if you own a CAVE ratty their baby pics & pedigrees are there).
All of the litters pages are best viewed at full screen size
Super Rescue Ratties
Rescues have unknown origins, usually from a pet shop; I try to help ratties who come knocking on my door (or are referred to me by local shelters or vets). I offer full informational support and rehoming for these 'babies' too! : )

Lucy & Ethel
Blue Hooded and Black Hooded Females
These two lovely little girls are somewhere between 8 and 12 months old, and they're just little things. They've lived here at Critter Cave since this spring when their mommy sadly had to give them up due to severe allergies. They're very sweet, gentle ladies who are looking for that special person to give them the attention they deserve!

Dubliner & Ruckus
Agouti marked and Black Hooded Males
These boys are about a year old and they're just super sweet! Their momma graduated from my university and transferred up to Alaska, where ratties aren't allowed! So the boys stayed here with me. They're very well behaved; love to explore and to cuddle, and they're smart -- their momma used them in several behavior/psychology studies and taught them tricks. Dubliner is a little shy, but LOVES his loving when you can make him believe you aren't going to eat him. Ruckus is outgoing - jumps at every chance for pets! Both of them glue themselves to the side of the cage when I come in the room. They're REALLY great boys who really deserve a place where they get 100% of the ratty attention. These would be especially wonderful guys for a first timer ;)

CAVE True Blue American Blue Irish (at CAVE in Pullman) |
CAVE Krislyn American Blue Marked (at SITH Rats in B.C.) |
I hadn't expected to have the next generation of this family so soon, but several of the girls of B's Blues chewed out of their cage (right through the bottom!) and went visiting the boys. Now TWO of them have babies of their own! My best guess is that CAVE Krislyn bred with CAVE Lance, a satin agouti (roan carrier), and CAVE True Blue bred with CAVE Freddy, a black rex European roan. Some of their babies are roans, and others will be carriers of the roaning gene. Babies from either litter may be satin after the grow their adult coats. Both of these girls' parents are "Best of Show" winners and both are SUPER sweet!
True Blue gave birth to 12 gorgeous babies on 31 May 2007. Her babies are a mix of American blue and black in both standard and rex coats. They make up the Londonderry Litter and their photos are below. If you would like to reserve babies from this litter please email me.
Sapphire gave birth to 10 babies on 29 Sept. 2007. They're all agouti with different markings. They are located near Abbottsford in B.C., Canada. You can find out more about her litter at www.ratanist.com.

CAVE Emily Agouti European Roan |
CAVE Wilhelm Agouti Self (roan carrier) |
I'm excited about this litter; I expect my first high-quality agouti roans to make an appearance! Both parents are sweet, quiet little rats... very well-behaved (most of mine are monsters! ;) and they get along great with everyone. Their kids should be very sweet, cuddly rats!
Though Emily grew a HUGE tummy, she followed her family's pattern of small litters, giving birth on Sept. 26 to only four babies... very big, chubby babies! Though this seemed a disappointment at first, it turned out to be a good thing... on Oct. 4 I got a call from the WSU Veterinary Hospital's Exotics Department; they had five tiny lab rat pinkies who were suddenly without a mommy. On the 5th they came home with me and Emily quickly set to work giving baths and filling tummies. Though the smallest (MUCH littler than the others) passed away overnight, the rest are growing quickly and doing great!
If you are interested in any of Emily's babies, or her foster kids, please let me know! : )

Group Pictures! Emily's babies are the colored one, her fosters are white.

Planned Litters & 'In the Works'
Widget is living with Heidelberg; she's an older lady, so babies aren't likely, but we may get lucky! These kids should be a mix of roans and carriers.
CAVE Shone, a blue european roan, is visiting the wonderful Bru at FURR rattery (in Kirkland, WA) in hopes of lovely little dumbo babies in the future.
Several more possibilities floating around for the future:
Roan carriers from Heidelberg x Voltimond
Squidgy x Johanna for a litter of lovely black, beige and fawn babies
Freddy or Heidelberg x Nimh for a litter of black satin roan carriers
Please email me if you are interested in any of these possible pairings!
